Straight answer: Capt. Brian fishes shallow water out of Key Largo, and mahi live in blue water that starts well past where a 25 foot bay boat belongs. The family runs a fleet for exactly that, twenty minutes south.
Plenty of Keys operators will take the booking anyway. A guide with a flats skiff and a slow week will happily run you offshore, and you will spend the day pounding through chop in a boat that was never built for it. Brian does not do that, which is the entire reason this page exists instead of a booking form.
Mahi ride weed lines and current edges in blue water. Finding them means running offshore and covering ground, often 15 to 25 miles out, then trolling or running and gunning on birds. That is a fuel-heavy, distance-heavy day that wants a big diesel sportfisher with a tower, outriggers and a cockpit you can fight a fish from. It is not a shallow-water boat's job.
The Poppa Wahoo Collective is the Epstein family's Islamorada operation and Brian's own sister company. If you want a Key Largo day and a full cooler, mangrove snapper and Spanish mackerel deliver. If you want the fight, tarpon on the spring migration is as hard-pulling as anything offshore, in three feet of water where you watch the whole thing happen.
